Volunteer Board Member - Shape the Future of Mature Dance in Australia

Mature Artists Dance Experience (MADE) seeks a passionate volunteer board member to help guide Australia's pioneering mature dance company.

For 20 years, MADE has transformed lives through contemporary dance, partnering professional artists with dancers aged 50+ to create visually stunning performances. Our impact spans Tasmania, Australia, and Japan - touching 31,000 lives through 132 creative projects and 287 performers.

We're looking for someone who brings:

  • Corporate governance or strategic planning experience and/or
  • Accounting and/or Treasurer experience with DGR status
  • Passion for the arts and community wellbeing
  • Fresh perspectives on sustainability and growth
  • Commitment to one monthly meeting (generally evening 5-7pm and occasionally otherwise as required)

You'll help us:

  • Champion the power of mature artists as a creative, energetic force
  • Expand our innovative health and education programs
  • Strengthen our position as Australia's only company dedicated to mature contemporary dance
  • Build partnerships that amplify our community impact

Based in Hobart with statewide reach, Board participation can be in-person or virtual for the right candidate.

About this opportunity

Mature Artists Dance Experience (MADE) seeks volunteers to help with the day-today organisation of a nationally recognised dance company championing artistic excellence and creative ageing.

For 20 years, MADE has transformed lives through contemporary dance, partnering professional artists with dancers aged 50+ to create visually stunning performances. Our impact spans Tasmania, Australia, and Japan - touching 31,000 lives through 132 creative projects and 287 performers. As a not-for-profit, community-based organisation, we are committed to recognising and promoting dance as a life-long practice that connects generations.

As a volunteer of MADE, you will help:

  • Champion the power of mature artists as a creative, energetic force
  • Expand our innovative health and education programs
  • Strengthen our position as Australia's only company dedicated to mature contemporary dance

Based in Hobart with statewide reach, volunteering roles can be in-person or virtual for the right candidate.

Skills and Experience

We are seeking motivated and organised volunteers with a strong interest in the arts and community engagement. Successful applicants will bring a mix of practical skills, initiative, and a collaborative approach. They will be reliable, proactive, and passionate about MADE’s mission of advancing creative opportunities for mature dancers across Australia.

Desirable skills and experience may include:

  • Experience or interest in grant writing and funding applications
  • Confidence in managing and updating websites and digital content
  • Ability to prepare and distribute newsletters and communications
  • Capacity to liaise professionally with artists, tutors, and partners
  • Ability to manage phone and email enquiries in a timely and friendly manner
  • Experience with marketing, promotions, and social media platforms
  • Administrative and organisational skills, including record-keeping and scheduling
  • Willingness to support class coordination and program delivery
  • Ability to work effectively with the Board and contribute to governance processes
