MADE 2026 Classes Term 1
Information and enrolments for Term 1 2026 classes can be found here.
Classes start Tuesday 10 February and run through to Thursday 16 April for a 10-week term for most classes. Term 1, 2026 will cost $190.00 including a $5 MADE Membership for the term (which covers participant insurance).
General Members and newcomers can enrol from January 6, 2026.
(Please note: MADE Ensemble Members are required to attend a certain number of classes as a condition of ensemble membership and so this group receives slightly earlier access to enrolments.)
Our wonderful tutors are nationally certified instructors with years of experience in the dance studio and on the stage. They are not only exceptional teachers, but are kind, encouraging and supportive of each dancer to grow at their own pace while having fun. Enrol early to avoid disappointment as experience tells us that most of our classes will sell out. If a class you wish to enrol for is sold out we strongly encourage you to join the waitlist in order to receive early notification when next term's classes go on sale.
Health & Wellbeing Notice
Out of consideration for fellow class members and tutors, please do not attend class if you are feeling unwell. We appreciate your support in helping maintain a safe, comfortable, and healthy environment for everyone.

CLASS TYPES
MADE Open Classes Program is open to all adults 18+.
Introduction to Dance (Movement Foundations and Improvisation)
In 2026 Introduction to Dance classes will be lead at three different locations, Kingston, Mt Stuart and New Norfolk by experienced MADE tutors Risa Ray, and Felicity Bott. Each brings their own approach to introducing dance to participants. Creative and improvisational movement is an aspect of mature dancing that is highly sought after for what it offers to physical and social wellbeing as well as maintaining and developing neuroplasticity.
Brianna Jade Shahin is MADE's regular relief tutor in 2026. Bri works on centre and short phrase work which revolves around repetition, groove, and working on musicality. She has a strong relationship with the music and how it can transform stillness into movement. Bri also likes to introduce footwork and transfers of weight to open new pathways to beginner dancers.
Angela and Risa each design their contemporary dance classes to approach intermediate level whilst still being able to accommodate beginners. Participants are encouraged to tackle the class with gusto at their own level.
Angela's Thursday evening 6pm class is at intermediate level, focused on building performance-readiness and is shaped for the MADE Ensemble members.
In Angela's Wednesday classes attendees learn centre, floor and travelling phrases and, on occasion, improvise. There’s a good dose of laughter as well as general conversation about the pleasures of dance aesthetics and function.
Risa’s classes focus on centre and phrase work, with the aim of improving balance, range of movement and flexibility so integral to dance. Along with contemporary dance technique, Risa’s phrase work also reflects her rich background in street dance. This class is a blend of contemporary dance flavours, offering enjoyment and fitness.
Whether a beginner or someone with previous experience of ballet, Lucinda will expertly guide you through discovery of the joy of ballet focussed around the use of the ballet barre. A barre is a stationary handrail that provides support for people during various types of exercise. Barres are used extensively in ballet training and warm up exercises to both introduce and develop balletic skill and style.
Classes conclude with some time spent in centre practice.
MADE’s ‘Movement Dive’ classes are designed to be suitable for all types of dancers: newcomers, varied levels of dance experience, for the neurodivergent and for those with diverse capacities.
In classes in New Town and Cygnet, the inimitable Paul Roberts takes time to acknowledge and celebrate how ALL of us can move and create with flow, curiosity and joy if we wish to.
In Bec Cannon's 'Movement Dive’ classes in Devonport there is a focus on developing embodied awareness using somatic practices including experiential anatomy, pilates, qi gong and contemporary dance. This is a playful and intuitive process that explores the common threads that unite these approaches together into an interwoven whole.
