MADE Dance Community Connect
April August September October 2025
Queenstown
MADE Dance Community Connect in 2025 took place for the third consecutive year in the North West of Tasmania. As an essential part of the MADE and The Unconformity major project, MADE was pleased to be resident in the NW on several occasions between April and October and was able to engage with the community in Queenstown offering the opportunity to enjoy dance via workshops.
In April 2025 MADE artists in residence Felicity Bott, Rebecca Cannon, Shirley Gibson were assisted by Ensemble members Ann Scott and Kate Bond to offer an Open Halls workshop in The Unconformity Hall. Many local community members attended to participate in varied styles of dance: creative, contemporary and even some line dancing instantly cohering to become an excellently-humoured dancing cohort!!!
In August, September and October MADE visited Lyall House and had an hoot of a time meeting and dancing with residents. MADE was pleased to offer our Movers and Shakers workshops into this community setting which include seated dance. We introduced ideas in MADE’s new work Weaving Vibrant that premiered at THE UNCONFORMITY as well as sharing movements and stories reminiscent of glory days of balls and dances in Queenstown and the surrounding areas. Truly outstanding tales and memories!
These MADE artists contributed to the Lyall House workshops: Felicity Bott, Rebecca Cannon, Shirley Gibson, Mary Eckhart, Laura Della Pasqua.
