20 MADE Moments
Art Exhibition, Opening Night Cocktail Party
& Pop-Up Dance Performances
Mature Artists Dance Experience celebrated 20 years of challenging perceptions about ageing through creative expression, dance, performance, wellness and community engagement on 6pm – 7.30 pm, Fri. Oct. 31 2025. This enthusiastically supported ticketed event took place at the open, light-filled St Lukes Foyer and Wellness Hub, on the corner Elizabeth and Liverpool Streets in Hobart. MADE were joined by special guests Graeme Murphy AO and Janet Vernon AM at the Opening Night Cocktail Party featuring an exhibition opening of John Paton’s exquisite watercolours capturing moments of MADE’s signature mature dance classes.
Tasmanian Artist John Paton's exhibition of watercolours, capturing the moments of joy, grace, strength, creativity and connection MADE when mature bodies dance. All sales were generously donated to MADE. Across the 3-day exhibition, performances were presented to the public by the MADE Ensemble, the perfect mature artistry to accompany John Paton's watercolours.
For 20 years, MADE has been challenging myths about ageing through dance and creativity, and community support means we can keep moving, keep inspiring, and keep bringing joy to our community. Together, we celebrated not just art and movement, but the power of community and connection. MADE gratefully acknowledges St Lukes Health for their support alongside many MADE volunteers who generously gave their time across the exhibition days. A community and artistic success!
Also in November MADE was supported by St Lukes to offer a month of introductory classes to the community. This General Introduction to Contemporary Dance with Risa Muramatsu Ray was greatly enjoyed as a fun gateway to MADE Adult Classes - a great start for someone thinking about joining our ongoing term classes. MADE sincerely thanks all members of our community for their support for these and all MADE’s fundraising projects in 2025. Survival for a regional arts organisation is a struggle, and without the engagement and financial support of our members, audiences, donors, sponsors and Arts Tasmania, MADE just would not be here.
