HandMADE & MADE TO LAST
Coming September 2023
HandMADE and MADE TO LAST are two extraordinary dance works that revel in the capacity and endurance of mature women.
In 2019, one of the world’s foremost mature dance artists, Liz Aggiss and Tasmania’s Emma Porteus were invited to create two new works for MADE’s Ensemble of mature age dance artists. MADE is delighted to present an encore season of the double bill in 2023.
HandMADE is a beautiful and lyrical work by Tasmanian producer and dance maker Emma Porteus. Emma’s work embraces the globe from Tasmania to Finland. In HandMADE Emma draws on that global perspective, with a work that focuses on the way we experience the world through the bodies we inhabit.
Liz Aggiss’s MADE TO LAST is defiant, funny, and loud! It’s a work created by an artist at the height of her powers and made with some of the most experienced members of the MADE Ensemble. It’s witty, irreverent, fast-paced, and decidedly unapologetic.
The double bill was originally co-produced with Performing Lines TAS.
MADE’s touring in 2023 is made possible through the Tasmanian Performing Arts Centres (TPAC) Strategic Touring Fund.
